Paris Jazz Festival; it's swinging in Vincennes

The Paris Jazz Festival returns this summer from June 30th to July 22nd, 2019 to the Parc Floral de Vincennes, offering an ambiance to delight all audiences and generations. Book your stay at the Hotel Comète now to enjoy this event.

A bucolic setting for a jazzy getaway

Created by two jazz fans in 1994, the Paris Jazz Festival, originally known as ‘A fleurs de Jazz’, harmoniously combines the multifaceted musical joy of jazz with a love of nature. This is understandable because since it began this festival has been associated with the Parc Floral de Vincennes, a glorious public park and botanical garden situated on the eastern edge of the city. This vast space gives fans of this musical genre born in the southern United States in the late 19th century an environment of flowers and greenery in which to enjoy the performances.

With more than 130,000 spectators each year, the Paris Jazz Festival has established itself as one of the most popular and famous events of its kind in Paris and the entire Ile-de-France. Reflecting the vitality of the Parisian and French jazz scene, this festival welcomes the greatest international musicians and singers from the jazz world, who hold audiences spellbound from the Espace Delta stage. Performances and nature become one, showing that music remains a wonderful universal language. This flagship event of our nation’s music scene takes place over four weekends, so come along and enjoy outdoor concerts in a lushly verdant 22,000 m2 setting in the heart of the Bois de Vincennes, close to the Château. This 26th edition, the full programme of which has not yet been announced, promises to enchant jazz lovers of all ages, as it does every year.

Big names on the international scene and emerging performers

This free festival (there is only a fee for entrance to the park) offers an ideal summer outing for a picnic with family or friends. In this bucolic setting of forests, lakes and multihued flowers you’ll hear jazz performed with awe-inspiring virtuosity. Nearly thirty concerts promise a wealth of musical discovery and creative synergy on two stages set amidst the wonders of nature. In this exceptional environment you will encounter hugely popular artistes and young and promising talent; an eclectic programme featuring the crème de la creme of the French and international jazz scenes. Last year, the festival welcomed many renowned performers such as saxophonists Eric Séva and Emile Parisien, pianist Laurent Cugny, and singer Hugh Coltmanou, as well as Franck Tortiller, the composer and former leader of the Orchestre National de Jazz. Two jazz ensembles are scheduled to play in the grande salle of the Parc Floral de Vincennes each Saturday and Sunday for the duration of the festival.

The Paris Jazz Festival also offers various other attractions for everyone. You can participate as a family in musical or environmental events, with fun afternoons of activities and rhythm workshops provided each weekend.
